The Perfect Tree

December 1, 2009

We went to Clark’s Christmas Conifers last night to find the perfect tree! It was a lot of fun getting to choose and cut down our own tree. Zoe loved walking around looking at the trees!

Zoe enjoyed looking at the ornaments and putting them on the tree. I had to chuckle because I looked at the tree at one point and there were about 5 ornaments all on one branch!

Putting on the final touch!

Zoe and I went to a Kid Fit class this morning at the Y. She did a great job taking turns and sharing! She even tried to get a girl that was scared to come in to play with her, didn’t work, but she tried! They had mats they could jump on to, tunnels to climb through, balance beams, hoola hoops, and musical instruments. They played with a parachute and bounced balls on top of it. Then the kids went under while the parents lifted it up and down, and Zoe squealed her high pitched squeal the whole time! So all in all it was a hit! :-) She is excited to go back next time!

Trick-or-Treat

Zoe enjoyed trick or treating this past weekend. Most of the time she just looked at the people, waiting for them to put candy in her bucket, but towards the end she got better at saying “Trick-or-Treat”. After we were done, we went to Mitch and Kate’s house where Zoe helped hand out candy to the customers (that’s what she called them)!

Zoe and I painted pumpkins today. She really enjoyed it! At one point she told me that her pumpkin looked better than mine!

We took a weekend trip over to Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin. The fall colors are really starting to show up so it made for a beautiful drive!

We went to a couple different apple orchards and came home with some Honeycrisp Apples, honey, squeaky cheese, smoked gouda, and of course a couple bottles of the local wine! Zoe enjoyed swimming at the hotel and was a great traveler!

Zoe got her flu shot on Monday and didn’t shed a tear, when I told her that it was all done she looked at me and said, “That was easy!” She has really been talking a lot lately, always has a story to tell! Her imagination has really take off too, it is fun to listen to her play! Sleeping in the big girl bed has gone really well…A couple of nights she has made it to our bed because she thought that Swiper (the sneaky fox on Dora) was coming into her bed! But, all in all, it has been a smooth transition! :)

New Bed!

We moved Zoe out of her crib and into her big girl bed today! She is so excited! Lets hope she doesn’t decide to start waking up early and getting out of bed :)

Lately we have been spending a lot of time at the farm helping Al get ready for harvest. Zoe and I rode in the tractor last weekend with Jared. She really enjoyed it and liked pretending to drive the tractor.

We went to the Fall Carnival for the church in West Bend this last weekend. They had games and activities for kids. Zoe liked getting her face painted, when she was done she said “That tickled my cheek!”

Our vanity is officially complete. Jared refinished this bench for me. It turned out great, he did a great job!

Zoe has been really pretending in the last month. She got the Tinkerbell dress up outfit as a reward for getting rid of her paci. Which has gone off without a hitch! :) We also got her a little fish tank and a Beta fish for her room. She seems to really enjoy it and has said, “My fish likes his new home” many times. We tried to get her to name him, giving her a lot of ideas, but in the end she decided to name him Fish. A day doesn’t go by that she doesn’t crack me up. The other day Jared was explaining left and right to her…and she looks at me with a very confused look and says “What my daddy say?”

My baby is not a baby anymore!

Last night was the first night Zoe did not have her pacifier when she went to bed. She cried for about 10 minutes and then whined for about another half hour but before we knew it she was sleeping like a baby. She hasn’t asked for it this morning at all…so hopefully the rest of the day goes just as smooth.

I have to admit it was a rather hard transition for me. I know that she is big enough to not “need” it anymore, that it was time, but it was the last baby item she had. Which means my little girl is really growing up. I wish we had a pause button (or even a slow motion button) to push in times like this when you just want to hold on to a moment!

Kossuth County Fair

We went to the Kossuth County Fair last night. It was fun to walk around and look at the exhibits and animals. Zoe was not a fan of the animals, she never wanted to get out of her stroller! We let her ride a couple of the rides. She went into the jumping house. She liked it but thought it would be easier to just lay down and let the other kids do the jumping for her! (Sorry the second picture is a little blurry, but you can tell she is having fun!)
